PMC BAGS UNITED NATIONS AWARD:
To the residents of the city, the PMC may be an object of utmost scorn, but internationally it is a pioneer of sorts in improvement of human living environment. Internationally PMC was declared a trendsetter in formulation and implementation of a simplified model of evaluating PROPERTY TAX of dwelling units with in PMC Limits

It is for this reason that it has the prestigious award established by The United Nations, in association with Dubai Municipality. The Dubai International Award for Improving Human Living Environment, in the year 2002. The award carries prize money of Thirty Thousand US Dollars (Rs.15 Lakh) with a big trophy of Pure Gold.



The Area Base assessment of Property tax as the model is popularly called, has not only been adopted by several states like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, M.P., U.P., Gujrat etc., but als accepted and implemented in Commonwealth Nations as well as several African Countries.

In the implementation of new method, PMC has faced lots of problems like the new taxation pattern was quashed by the Hon’ble High Court, Patna. But, later Hon’ble Supreme Court upholds the model following which it was implemented in 1994 with in PMC Limits. Later, Govt. of India, has asked all the stated to implement the Area Base Assessment of Property Tax. Gradually it had got wide acceptance due to its simple method of evaluating property tax on the basis of Plinth Area of Dwelling Unit.

SELF-ASSESSMENT SCHEME :
PMC first formatted Self Assessment Scheme, to provide a quick service to the Hon’ble Citizen of Patna. The new scheme is very much successful and widely welcomed and accepted by the rate payers of Patna. As a result a large number of left holding came under the net income of the PMC.

SAN & MARKS WITH HISTORY :
PMC had the privilege of according unique reception to the first President of India, Dr. Babu Rajendra Prasad (who was the Chairman of Patna City Municipality in the year 1924-26), former Presidents of India Gyani Jain Singh, R. Venkat Raman and former Speaker Lok Sabha Sri Balram Jakhar with other speakers of Indian assemblies. PMC also hosted All India Mayors Conference and All India Municipal Sports.
